Hair Flair: the sequel

So as I has been raving on about recently, my hair in desperate need of a dye job and even though I have been telling and telling myself that I would get my hair done after the exams, I recently booked a facial and Dermalogica skincare overhaul so the hair will unfortunately being going on the back-burner. However I simply cannot bear seeing my three toned hair now every time I look in the mirror so today while in town I picked up some Clairol hairdye.

taken with Instagram

It is currently a fetching tricolour ranging from brown to blonde to greeny-blue (how magnificent that sounds). Unfortunately I don't have a picture to go show up but you can see how it originally looked HERE when I first dyed it. Unfortunately my roots have grown out and the blue has faded to a rather unappealing pale green - it is literally as rank as it sounds.

Mid dye-job. Quite sexy, no?

The completed look!

Jeez, I'm looking fierce serious with big puffy eyes

Still pretty light but its sill a change from what it was this time last year (below).

I have a feeling that it won't last though, I'm afraid I'm too much of a blonde girl at heart.

Jane

P.S Please excuse the shoddy photos. Am camerless at the moment as the majority of my belongings are still down in Galway and I have not yet had a chance to retrieve them!

Damn, Girl Special Edition: Beauty Youtubers

As my very first Damn Girl feature, I am doing a special edition. My current obsession is YouTube beauty bloggers. I have been a fan of general blogging for a while but only recently have I discovered the multitude of fantastic bloggers - or vloggers - on YouTube. If you found yourself in The Click List recently then you will have seen a couple of the channels to which I am subscribed. Because of this, I decided to compile a little list of my favourite beauty and fashion ladies and why I like them so much.

5. Beauty Crush
Sammi was the first beauty blogger that I subscribed to and it was through her that I subsequently found all of the other numerous beauty and fashion Youtubers that I am currently following. She has a keen eye for dupes of more expensive products which in my opinion is fantastic.

4. Zoella
Zoe of Zoella280390 is cute as a button, sweet as a nut and man does she know her shit. Zoe has the perfect mix of Beauty Reviews, Youtube Tags and my favourite the Haul. Her videos are an extension of her schoee.blogspot.com. Don't watch her videos if you're the jealous type though. She has the most gooorgeous hair!

Also her My Brother Does My Makeup video is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

3. Leanne Woodfull
As you'll see the majority of people on this list - minus of course Leanne - are based in the UK and I guess I focus on the Brits because the products they review are easy to locate in Ireland unlike most of the stuff talked about by the American equivalent. Leanne is a rockabilly beaut with a teeny bit of goth thrown in.

What I really like about Leanne is that you can really see that she really cares about her subscribers and would never recommend any product that she doesn't believe in one hundred percent. While most beauty bloggers tempt me to blow a week's allowance at the MAC counter, Leanne covers a range of products over a whole spectrum of prices. She's also very honest, which is highly admirable, even when it comes to subject like Self Harm Awareness and her experience with it. I particularly love her Hauls and her Room Tour which quickly became a game of "I have that!"

2. The Persian Babe
Not only is Barbara - The Persian Babe - absolutely gorgeous but she has fantastic taste in clothes, jewellery and beauty products. Her videos range from Outfit Of The Day to a ramble about going dairy free. Barbara does fantastic hauls and her Smokey Eye Tutorial should be compulsory viewing for anyone who has every bought dark eyeshadow.

 1. Vivianna Does Makeup
The lovely Miss Anna over at VivannaDoesMakeup is an authority on what to buy and what not to buy. She isn't afraid to try new products but she has her favourites and after watching some of her videos you will definitely look at your own collection of beauty and skincare products and think that you need an overhaul. I particularly love her monthly favourites videos, actually I love every video she outs out. She knows her stuff, can compare products knowledgeably and isn't afraid to go sans makeup in front of the camera to show how effective certain products are.

A Bit Of Tumblr Inspiration

So I have been, for quite some time, a fan of Tumblr. I've been tumbling (yeah I just said that) for about two years now and I have to say that for a scrapbooker like myself Tumblr is an absolute haven. I always see people posting various style inspiration pictures on their blogs and even though I don't normally do that, there are just so many fantastic pictures floating about at the moment that I couldn't resist. So I just chose a few little pictures that I am finding particularly inspirational at the moment.

This girl is probably the coolest individual on the planet...

... and these the coolest shoes. Yes I know they're men's but I would still definitely wear them.

Love the shirt/scarf/coat combination. As you can see I am kind of feeling the androgyny look at the moment. So time for something a little more girly.

This lemon coat. Love it. As I recently wrote about for Studenty.me that you can read HERE, the Made In Chelsea girls have been providing a great deal of style inspiration for a great number of girls, and Caggie Dunlop is definitely my favourite.

As I mentioned in my recent Hair Flair post, I am really feeling Scarlett Johnasson as hair inspiration at the moment particularly in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, especially since I am kind of in need of a bit of a change. I will probably go back to brown but if I can't resist the blonde, then I would like to very much go for this kind of look. Hair is still a bit short though. *sad face*

Finally, a bit of beauty inspiration.

This might just be my favourite thing on tumblr.

Jane

9/5/12 EDIT: Just in case anyone else is as in love with the pink soled men's shoes as I am then I have another picture HERE. And they are by Jil Sander. If you're reading this Jil, I know you're probably really busing having taken back to your brand and everything and you must be pretty busy trying to get back into the creative designer swing of things after 12 years but please create something similar for women's wear. Not that I could afford to buy them anyway but just to know that they existed  and that I could look at pictures of them would make me happy enough.
